How do you connect a printer to an existing home network?

I have a desktop and a laptop connected to a wireless network in my apartment. I'd like to add the printer to the network so I can sit on the couch and print. Any ideas? Thanks. How do you connect a printer to an existing home network?
There are two main ways you can do this. One is by attaching the printer to a device called a Print Server. Proper installation of a print server can be a bit more work than most people will want to do, so I recommend considering having it professionally installed.

Alternately, you can plug the printer in to the desktop computer and share the printer using windows file and printer sharing. Setting that up will vary from one version of windows to the next, and it has the disadvantage of requiring the desktop computer to be turned on, but it is easier to configure than most print servers.

Here are some instructions for sharing a printer in XP home.

If you already have the printer connected to the desktop PC, you should be able to configure the properties to allow access from your laptop.
