How do I format my printer so that it's doesn't print as inky?

I have a Canon MP 210 and when it prints, it sometimes feels very moisty on darker parks of the picture or text. Fonts that are thick in particular leave blots of ink where it is the thickest.

When I print at school or at a friend's house, their printer always prints normally. Especially the school's printer which prints very light (my preference).

This printer has gone through so many color cartages that I have around 3 leftover black cartages (because they always sold 2 blacks and 1 color in a set). I've gone to a point where I put the printer on grayscale. But now it's wasting ink on black!

I have a feeling that either it's my paper or there's an option for this. Hopefully, it's the second one. Can someone please tell me how to set my printer so that it prints less inky and lighter? How do I format my printer so that it's doesn't print as inky?
Try changing your print quality settings in your printer's print preferences to draft quality.

Best of luck.
